Pune, August 13, 2025 – An 18-year-old motorcyclist, Shivam Kumar Singh, was tragically killed in a fatal accident yesterday morning in Koregaon Park. The incident, a hit-and-run, involved two unidentified drivers who fled the scene after causing the collision.
The accident occurred around 10:30 AM on the road from Mangaldas Road Chowki toward Bundgarden Bundhara, near Ranka Jewellers. According to the police complaint filed by the victim’s sister, a speeding motorcycle rider first hit Shivam Kumar Singh’s bike from behind, causing him to fall onto the road. Immediately after, a tempo driver, also driving recklessly, ran over the victim, resulting in his death.
The Koregaon Park Police have registered a case against both the unknown motorcycle rider and the tempo driver under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act, including charges for causing death by negligence. The police are actively searching for both drivers, who are currently absconding.
This tragic event highlights the severe risks of reckless driving and the urgent need for greater road safety awareness in the city. The police urge anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
