Pune – The viral video from D-Mart in Wagholi, where a man insisted on speaking Hindi instead of Marathi, has now taken a new turn. A woman involved in the incident has come forward with a detailed explanation of what actually happened.
What Exactly Happened?
According to the woman, the incident occurred when her shopping trolley accidentally hit another customer’s foot due to the crowd. She immediately apologized and tried to move ahead. However, the person reacted by saying, “People come here as if they are roaming in a garden; they have no sense.”
When she politely asked, “Did it hurt too much?”, the person insisted that they speak in Hindi and not Marathi, despite clearly understanding Marathi.
Forced to Speak Hindi?
As per the woman, the individual was well-versed in Marathi but still refused to converse in it, instead forcing them to speak Hindi. Seeing this, her husband started recording the incident. The woman also alleged that the person even physically confronted them when the argument escalated.
Respect for Local Languages – A Two-Way Expectation
The woman clarified that she and her husband respect every local language. She mentioned that her husband had worked in Chennai for two years and was well aware of how to respect local cultures. She further stated that in Maharashtra, they expect the same level of respect for the Marathi language in return.
