PUNE – The city of Pune is gearing up for one of its most anticipated and grandest festivals, Ganesh Chaturthi, with celebrations for the year 2025 set to commence on Wednesday, August 27th.

The 10-day festival, a cornerstone of Maharashtra’s cultural and spiritual identity, will transform the city with vibrant decorations, elaborate pandals, and a palpable sense of community spirit. As is the tradition, the festivities will culminate in the final immersion ceremony, known as Ganesh Visarjan, on Saturday, September 6th.

Pune, known as the cultural capital of Maharashtra, has a unique historical connection to the festival. It was here that Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak transformed the private household celebration into a public event to unite people during the pre-independence era. Today, this legacy continues with thousands of public mandals and private homes participating in the devotion.

Throughout the festival, the city will witness a series of cultural programs, traditional aartis, and community gatherings. The final procession on Visarjan day is a spectacle in itself, drawing immense crowds to witness the journey of the idols to their final immersion.
