New Delhi – The wait is over for Indian motorcycle enthusiasts as KTM has officially launched the all-new 160 Duke, marking its entry into the fiercely competitive premium 160cc streetfighter segment. Replacing the now-discontinued 125 Duke as the brand’s most accessible offering, the new bike is priced at an average ex-showroom price of around ₹1.85 lakh.
Performance and Features
The centerpiece of the 160 Duke is its new 164.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It’s a powerhouse for its class, delivering 19 PS of power at 9500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of torque at 7500 rpm. This makes it the most powerful bike in the segment, giving it a noticeable edge over rivals.
The bike’s design draws inspiration from its larger Duke siblings, featuring the aggressive, sharp styling that KTM is known for, including a muscular fuel tank and split seats. It comes equipped with a 5-inch LCD display that includes Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to access features like turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, and music controls through the KTM Connect App.
Safety and handling are also a priority, with the 160 Duke featuring a sturdy split steel trellis frame, WP Apex USD forks at the front, and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. The braking system consists of a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS with a SuperMoto mode.
Competition and Market Impact
The launch of the 160 Duke is a strategic move by KTM to challenge the dominance of bikes like the Yamaha MT-15 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. While the new KTM is priced higher than its main rival, the Yamaha MT-15, its class-leading performance and premium features are expected to attract riders looking for a performance-oriented and well-equipped motorcycle. Available in three striking colors—Electronic Orange, Atlantic Blue, and Silver Metallic Matte—the 160 Duke is set to become the new benchmark for performance and value in the segment. Deliveries are expected to begin shortly.
