Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has given its approval for the recruitment of approximately 15,000 police personnel across the state. This significant decision, announced today, comes as welcome news for thousands of young aspirants who have been eagerly awaiting the “Police Bharti” (police recruitment) drive.
The move is part of the government’s ongoing effort to strengthen the state’s law enforcement agencies and fill vacant positions. The cabinet also approved a one-time age relaxation for candidates who have exceeded the prescribed age limit in the years 2022 and 2023, a measure that is expected to benefit many.
While the official notification with detailed information is yet to be released, the government’s approval signals the beginning of the recruitment process. Candidates are advised to start preparing for the selection stages, which typically include a physical examination, a written test, and document verification.
The announcement comes after the state police force successfully completed a significant portion of the recruitment for 2022-2023, filling over 11,000 positions out of an advertised 17,471. This latest approval marks a new phase in the government’s push to bolster the police force.
Aspirants should keep a close watch on the official website of the Maharashtra Police for the release of the detailed notification, which will outline the application process, eligibility criteria, and important dates.
