Pune: In a significant development stemming from an ongoing narcotics case, the Crime Branch of Pune City has filed an additional case against an arrested accused for secretly filming a woman in a nude state. The accused, identified as Prajwal Manish Khewlekar, who was arrested in connection with a case registered at the Kharadi Police Station, is now facing charges of violating a woman’s privacy.

The case came to light during the technical analysis of Khewlekar’s mobile phone, which was seized as part of the initial investigation under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act). The investigation was also prompted by a letter from the State Women’s Commission.

On August 14, 2025, the female victim appeared in person at the Cyber Police Station in Pune to file a formal complaint. She alleged that between 2022 and June 2025, Khewlekar secretly recorded her in a nude state at various lodges. The complaint states that he took these audios, videos, and photos without her permission, with the deliberate intent of violating her privacy and confidentiality. The victim expressed her belief that Khewlekar possessed these recordings with the malicious purpose of misusing them in the future.

Following the complaint, the Cyber Police Station in Pune has registered a case against Prajwal Khewlekar under Case No. 88/2025 under Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66(E) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

The case is currently under investigation by a Senior Police Inspector at the Cyber Police Station, Pune. This development highlights the increasing use of digital forensics in police investigations, leading to the discovery of additional crimes. It also underscores the importance of the State Women’s Commission’s role in bringing such cases to light.
