Chennai, August 28 — TVS Motor Company has officially entered the highly competitive sub-₹1 lakh electric scooter market with the launch of its newest model, the TVS Orbiter. Priced at an aggressive ₹99,900 (ex-showroom), the Orbiter is being positioned as a practical, feature-rich alternative to the premium TVS iQube, aiming to attract a wider consumer base.
New Contender in the EV Race
The TVS Orbiter arrives as a direct challenger to popular models like the Ather Rizta and Ola S1X, emphasizing a balance of affordability and utility. Its commuter-friendly design features a wide, flat seat and a spacious 34-liter under-seat storage that can comfortably fit two half-face helmets. The scooter also includes a flat footboard for added convenience.
TVS has equipped the Orbiter with a 3.1 kWh battery, claiming an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 158 km on a single charge, a figure that puts it ahead of some of its direct rivals. The scooter’s top speed is 68 km/h.
Feature-Packed and Connected
Despite its competitive price point, the Orbiter doesn’t skimp on modern technology. It features a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity through the TVS SmartXonnect app. This allows riders to access turn-by-turn navigation, receive call and SMS alerts, and even get anti-theft and crash/fall notifications. For added convenience, it includes a USB charging port and offers two riding modes: Eco and City.
Safety and practicality were also key considerations. The Orbiter comes with a segment-first cruise control, as well as automated hill-hold assist, a reverse mode, and a fall-triggered motor cut-off for enhanced rider safety. With its robust feature set and attractive price, the TVS Orbiter is set to make a significant impact on the electric two-wheeler landscape.
