Vande Bharat Express Inaugural Run Between Ajni (Nagpur) and Pune Celebrated with EnthusiasmNagpur, August 13, 2025 – The Bhusaval Division of Indian Railways proudly marked the inaugural run of the Vande Bharat Express between Ajni (Nagpur) and Pune today, a significant milestone in the modernization of India’s rail network. The high-speed train, greeted with immense enthusiasm by passengers and railway staff, symbolized a leap forward in connectivity and comfort.The event was highlighted by the vibrant participation of children onboard, who added to the festive atmosphere by singing patriotic melodies. Passengers lauded the train’s efficiency and comfort, with many expressing their excitement about the reduced travel time and enhanced travel experience.
“This is truly a proud moment for Nagpur. Travelling to Pune will now be faster and more comfortable than ever before,” said Ramesh Kulkarni, a businessman on the first trip.The Vande Bharat Express, part of a broader initiative to transform Indian Railways, is designed to connect cities less than 800 km apart with a premium travel experience. Introduced in 2019, these trainsets have achieved semi-high speeds of up to 183 km/h during trials, though operational speeds are currently capped at 160 km/h due to infrastructure limitations. The train’s faster acceleration and deceleration capabilities, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in just 52 seconds, underscore its advanced technology.This inaugural run is part of a larger vision to deploy 4,500 Vande Bharat units by 2047, aiming to replace existing Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains. The initiative aligns with the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which seeks to modernize 1,275 railway stations across India, including those in the Bhusaval Division.
This scheme not only enhances passenger facilities but also supports local economies through programs like ‘One Station One Product.’The event at Bhusaval station saw a warm welcome with floral decorations and a gathering of railway officials and enthusiasts.
